Privacy
PhotoMap.World has no accounts and sets no cookies. Most of what the site remembers stays in your own browser. This page lists everything we store and how to ask us to delete it.
Last updated 26 October 2026.
Kept in your browser only
These settings are saved in your browser’s local storage, on your device. They are never sent to us, and clearing your browser’s site data removes them.
- Light or dark mode, if you chose one.
- Your saved listings (the heart button).
- The currency you picked for prices.
Your location: when you press “Show my location”, your browser asks your permission and then tells the map where you are, so it can fly there. That happens in your browser only. Your location is not sent to us or stored.
What our servers see
- Your country. Our host, Cloudflare, tells the site which country a visit comes from, so the globe can open on what is in season near you. We use it for that page and do not store it.
- Technical logs. Cloudflare keeps short-lived logs of requests and errors for our website so we can fix problems. They are deleted automatically after a few days.
- Visitor counts. We do not run analytics at the moment. If we add them, we will use a cookieless service such as Plausible and update this page.
When you send us a message
The contact form, “Send feedback” and “Report incorrect information” store what you send, so we can read it and reply:
- your message, and for a report, the listing and what is wrong;
- your email address, only if you chose to give one;
- the page you sent it from, and your browser’s name and version;
- a scrambled code made from your internet (IP) address, so we can stop one sender from flooding the form. We never store the address itself, and the code changes every day, so it cannot be used to follow you.
We remove the scrambled code after 30 days and delete messages after 12 months. A copy of your message may also be emailed to us so we see it quickly. We do not sell or share messages, and we never show your email address on the site.
Other services the map uses
Like any website, the map asks other services for pieces of the map, and those services see the request. The base map comes from OpenFreeMap, the hill shading from Amazon Web Services’ open terrain data, and our park and species layers and photos from our own storage at Cloudflare. Links to operators’ websites take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Asking us to delete something
To ask what we hold about you, or to have a message you sent deleted, use the contact form. Tell us roughly when you wrote and what it was about, and give an email address so we can confirm when it is done.
