Meadow Bird Photography Hide – Alblasserwaard (South Holland)

Outside, 1.5 km from NNN-ZHby Fotohut Weidevogelhuijs (individual operator)

Unique meadow bird (weidevogel) photography hide in the famous Alblasserwaard polder — one of the most important black-tailed godwit breeding regions in the Netherlands and Europe. Specially positioned for low-angle wader photography: godwit lapwing redshank oystercatcher curlew and snipe all breed in the surrounding wet meadows. Barn owl hunting over the polder at dusk. Marsh harrier overhead. Massive flocks of teal wigeon and pintail in winter. The Alblasserwaard is critical habitat for Dutch meadow birds — seeing several thousand godwits in a single morning is possible in late February. One of very few hides in the Netherlands specifically designed for meadow bird photography.
