Birdwatching Hide – Pape Nature Park

Outside, 600 m from Papeby Pape Nature Park
Birdwatching Hide – Pape Nature Park

Dedicated birdwatching hide in Pape Nature Park on Latvia's southern Kurzeme coast, beside Lake Pape — a key staging ground on the Baltic migratory route. Great Bittern, Black Stork and both crake species breed in the reed beds; autumn brings up to 200 migrant species including large crane and goose flocks. Pape also has one of the largest free-roaming Konik horse herds in northern Europe and a small European Bison population — both visible on guided reserve walks. The park's ornithological ringing station has operated since 1966 and can be visited by arrangement. Groups up to 8 persons: €90 (advance booking 3 days required). Contact: gidi@pdf.lv.
