Outside, 37 km from Ashridge Estateby Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust – Arundel

WWT London Wetland Centre — extraordinary 40-hectare urban nature reserve just 4 miles from central London on the site of disused Victorian reservoirs. Multiple hides. Star winter attraction: bittern — one of the UK's rarest birds — has been present every winter since 2000 (almost guaranteed Nov–Feb). Water voles alongside paths — one of the most accessible sites in England. Peregrine hunts the reserve. Hobby in summer. Nationally significant gadwall and shoveler numbers. 180+ bird species recorded. Combined with Richmond Park deer for a complete London wildlife photography day.
