WWT Welney on the Ouse Washes — one of the finest wetland photography sites in England. Flagship winter product: Bewick's and whooper swans in front of the observatory hide every evening in winter (traditionally the largest concentration of Bewick's swans in England). Flooded washes in winter create vast lake in front of hides. Also breeding black-tailed godwit (continental race — BTO conservation project), common crane, bittern and marsh harrier. Dramatic sunrise and sunset lighting over the flat Fenland landscape.
