Coastal Wetland Photography Day Trips – Circeo National Park (Lazio – near Rome)

Outside, 200 m from Parco nazionale del Circeoby K'Nature Wildlife / individual naturalist guides – Circeo NP

Circeo National Park on the Lazio coast — 90 minutes from Rome — holds a complex of coastal lakes and wetlands among Italy's most wildlife-rich accessible to day visitors. The car is used as a rolling hide (voiture=capanno) at dawn at the Pantani dell'Inferno marshes near Lago di Caprolace — birds feed and rest at close range allowing intimate photography from the vehicle window. K'Nature guides (including naturalist photographer Francesco Simonetta) lead specialist birding day trips here for international photographers departing from Rome. Glossy ibis, spoonbill, herons, marsh harrier and kingfisher in the lagoons. Bearded tit in the reedbeds. Purple swamphen — rare recovering Italian population. The adjacent Pontine pine forests (Foresta di Circeo) hold woodpeckers and short-toed eagle.
