Tsurui-Ito Tancho Sanctuary

Winter feeding ground for red-crowned cranes in Tsurui village run by the Wild Bird Society of Japan, with an open fenced viewing area and a heated nature-centre room overlooking the field. At peak more than 300 cranes gather, and it is one of the standard dawn-to-dusk shooting locations on every Hokkaido winter photo tour.
