A 30-chalet lodge inside the Danum Valley Conservation Area, a block of primary lowland dipterocarp forest in eastern Sabah. Full-board packages include resident nature guides, and the operator recommends at least three nights. Danum is one of the best places in Borneo to photograph wild orangutans, Bornean bristlehead, pittas and hornbills.
