Oravi village has been the centre of Saimaa ringed seal research and tourism for decades — ideally located next to Linnansaari NP which holds ~80 of the world's ~530 Saimaa ringed seals. Small-group open boat safaris (max 11 passengers) led by experienced licensed guides. Morning safari best May-June (seals basking on rocks during moult). Sunset safari best June-September. Also offers private seal safaris (2-6 people) sunrise safaris and kayak tours. The world's largest recorded seals — Viljo (124kg) and Ritva (97kg) — live in this area. Highly reviewed. Coffee and snack included. Rain gear provided.
