Vargas Wilderness Lodge

Small, rustic off-grid lodge of wooden cabins beside Lake Stora Öjungen in the Hälsingland forests, run by nature photographer and filmmaker Håkan Vargas Sundberg and his wife Eva. Guests walk or are transferred to a heated log-cabin hide with camera ports and bunk beds on the edge of a forest clearing, where they spend the night watching for brown bears; in winter the same set-up is used for full-day golden eagle photography.
